Surrealist Writing with Manisha Anjali

Unearth the creative potential of the unconscious and tap into the mysterious realms of dream work, automatic writing and cut-ups with poet and performer Manisha Anjali.

This seminar and workshop introduces surrealist writing practice by demonstrating how to extract symbols and narratives from the dream realm. Learn about dreaming and automatic writing as a tool of illumination, and editing as means of altering reality. Work with your unconscious to evade writer’s block, self-criticism and boundaries established by traditional forms of composition. We will be discussing Tatsumi Hijikata’s Butoh scores, Soviet surrealist cinema and Kitasono Katue’s White Album.

An intimate workshop limited to 8 participants will follow the seminar. Bring a dream.
