Chelle Destefano

I’m a Deaf visual artist and storyteller, born in Melbourne. I have worked with watercolours and inks but recently I stepped out of my usual boundaries to work in mixed mediums that include oils, resin, wire, fabric, clay, wood, inter-disciplines that include art installation, found objects and video installations and written stories. I recently did a project telling stories of growing up Deaf through visual expressions with creating paper sculptures from spatial movements of Auslan, our sign language. I have exhibited regularly for the past five years in galleries around Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, QLD, and abroad in Europe.
