Ruby Solly is a Kai Tahu writer, musician, and music therapist. She recently completed a masters in music therapy focusing on the use of taonga pūoro (traditional Māori instruments) in mental health. She is currently working on an album that works on using the environment itself as a player within the music, by recording taonga pūoro in different locations relevant to the history of Wellington, and to her as a descendant of Kāti Māmoe. She has recently had her first short film released, Super Special which shares Māori knowledge around menstruation through narrative.
