Sinead Overbye (Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki, Rongowhakaata) is a poet and fiction writer, turned activist. She holds a BA in Art History and Spanish, and an MA in Creative Writing from the IIML. She identifies as queer / takatāpui. In 2019 she won the Wallace Foundation Youth Prize. She is also a member of Rangatahi o te Pene, a collective of young Māori writers who in September 2019 published Te Rito o te Harakeke—A collection of writing for Ihumātao. Sinead works as a Research Assistant in Wellington. Her writing can be found in Turbine, Starling, Sweet Mammalian, Sport and elsewhere.
